How much RAM and what sort of processor speed would make a “future-proof” computer?

By future proof I mean one that wouldn’t become obsolete for the next few years. And a video card recommendation would be good too. Keep in mind that the computer will be for gaming, and that I’ll probably buy one game in 2008 and that will last for awhile.
