How to “hack” a Bose subwoofer?

I have a Bose surround sound system and the head unit stopped working so I went out and got a pioneer head unit. I hooked it all up and realized the only thing that can’t hook up is the sub. I was wondering if there is a way to bypass the internal “computer” but still use the I ternal amp and speaker.

Wow… the head unit stopped working? after how many years? – Bose has a 1yr warranty.
But will fix for a cost if you want.

As far as hooking it hup to a different amp… all you have to find out is which of the XLR prongs is for mono – should be just 2 of the many prongs in the connection wire.
Depends which Accoustimass series woofer you have… this will be an easy task for some – But can be a pain for others.
I’d cut the original Bose wire and find out from there… but then again, it might not be as simple as volume control may be another wire. If so, then you’d have some troubles.

Why not get another subwoofer?
I know you are trying to salvage this Bose system… but it’s hard to do.
There are lots of other people who have these Bose Lifestyle or Acoustimass series systems that have the Subwoofer stop working — all you have to do is list your Sub module on Kijiji or Craigslist, even Ebay and sell it. Who knows what you can get… you may even get enough for a 15″ true subwoofer!
